Docent

NCRy docents ride our regular and special trains providing information to passengers on a variety of subjects such as history of our railroad, history of our railroad equipment, specifics of cultural background in the area, and many other topics.

There is a special docent seat on the train with a microphone that broadcasts docent information throughout the train. If conditions permit, the docents can roam around the train answering passenger’s question and pointing out points of interest as the train travels through Niles Canyon.

Docents can work on our trains for entire days or only on a few runs. If you are interested in being a NCRy docent, please contact us at the link below..

Our docents make on train announcements as seen here in our snack bar car.

For many years, we were fortunate to have Bay Area radio personality, Fred Krock, as the voice of many of our trains. Fred has since past away, but we fondly remember his golden radio voice. Do you have a great radio voice that can add to our visitor experience?
